The Bayside Festival Swimming Carnival is fast approaching. It will be held on Friday 19 March, at the Bayfit Leisure Centre. For more information Click Here

Club

The year has kicked off, and Wednesday nights club underway. For the next 5 weeks consecutively club championships continue. Any swimmer not entered in the championships are still most welcome to come along and swim in the races anyway.

State Championships - Results

The Victorian State Championships have been swum between 20th December and January 17th with some great results from Altona Swimmers. 11 & 12 yrs Ages – The 12 & u Altona A 4 x 50m relay team of Victoria Kovach, Emily Prentice, Bridget O’Halloran & Amaya Nicolson-Biggs turned in a fantastic result, after being seeded 8th, qualified in 5th with a time of 2:08.46, coming 6th in the final with a great time of 2:06.53. PB’s were swum by all team members. The Altona B team turned in a very respectable result of 24th in the 46 team field. The Altona A & B teams both posted great results in the Medley relays also. Well done to all the relay team members, who in addition to the above mentioned were Keisha Quarrier, Renee Farrugia, Jenny Falla, Elyse Woods, Ashleigh Gould, There were more top ten finals results with Emily in the 12 yr 200 Back, Bridget in the 11yr 200 Free & Back, and Liam Humphreys 4th in the 12 yr 200 Fly. Swimming Victoria 12 yr & under State Championship Top 10 badges will be presented to the top ten result swimmers at club on next Wednesday night. 13 yrs and over Ages - Jake Scott and Bradley Moore represented the club in the 13 yrs & over with good results, and some solid PB’s across seven events. Well done to all competitors, thank you to parents for their support, and thanks to Kevin Charles & the coaching team for preparing swimmers & coaching throughout the Championships.

Presentation Night - 2008/09

Presentation Night, will be held on Friday 1 MAY 2009, commencing at 7.00pm.
The venue is Newport Power Football Club, Bryan Martyn Reserve, Market Street NEWPORT.
The cost is $10 per head or $30 per family.
Please advise of your attendance to the Secretary by Monday 27 April 2007.

Presentation Night - 2006/07

The Altona Swimming Club 2006-07 Swimming Season Presentation Night was held on Friday 11th of May. It was fantastic to see so many people attending, and a great night was had by all. Congratulations to all trophy winners and a big thanks to Sean Connolly and his band for making the night most enjoyable. Best of luck to all swimmers for the 2007-08 swimming season.

Presentation Night - Rescheduled

Spring Interclub 2006 Results

A big congratulations to our Senior B Grade Spring Interclub Team. Going into the final night we were level with Yarra Plenty, with the same number of premiership points. A solid performance last Friday of 6-0, sealed our spot as B Grade premiers for 2006. Our Senior B Grade team consisted of Joshua Barnard, Michael Cody, Aaron Gillett, Nicholas Gillett, Cameron Hamment, Ryan Keenan, William Lester and Hayley Walls. Our Senior G Grade team also performed well almost claiming runners-up. Only a few event points separated us from the Northcote Apaches. Well done to all those who took part: Grace Barnard, Adam Haley, Stuart Jarvis, Rebecka Kresse, Hayley Rider, Kendall Rider and Alex O'Connor.

Winter Interclub 2006

Winter Interclub 2006 - Senior & Juniors wanted

At this stage, we are just two short of entering three junior teams and one short of entering two senior teams. If you are interested in participating in Winter Interclub, please see Aaron Gillett or Kim Truong.

Corporate Challenge

You've all heard about, the Williamstown Festival Corporate Challenge is on this Saturday and the club needs some volunteers on the day. If you are free on Saturday from 1PM then please let Nick know by calling 0438 763 151 or speak to someone from committee at club night.

Ten Pin Bowling - Friday 17th March

This friday the club will be holding another ten pin bowling night. It costs $15 per person, and starts at 7:30pm on Friday 15th of March. It is being held at Oz Ten Pin, 216 Blackshaws Rd, Altona North. Please let Kim know if you are coming at the very latest on thursday night. Kim can be contacted on 0433 325 771.

Bayside Festival

Just a short reminder that the Bayside Festival is on this Friday 24th of February. A big thanks goes out to all the volunteers who will be helping out on the night, it should be a good event. Best of luck to all those competing!!

Working Bee

The club will be running two working bee's. The first is on the 10th of February at 6pm. We need as many people as possible as many hands make light work. The second working be will be held later in the month. Stay Tuned.

Movie Night Update

The session time for Harry Potter and King Kong is 6:30. Please turn up then to collect your tickets. Both movies run for approx 3 hours. If you have any problems, call Nick on 0438 763 151

Movie Night December 14

The club will be holding another movie night. This time there will be a choice between two movies, Harry Potter - The Goblet of Fire and King Kong. This is opening night for King Kong so this is a good chance to see it first, get good seats and a discounted ticket. Only $10 pp. Start times will be between 6:30PM and 8:30PM, Wednesday December 14. Keep in mind that these movie nights are very good fundraisers for the club so it would be nice to see everyone get behind this event. Please pay for tickets in advance. New Website Feature - My Account

The new My Accounts section has been added. This enables you to change/view your details i.e. email address and password. To access this feature, you will need to Sign-In, and then click on the My Account option at the top of the page. The "Change Details" option will then become available. Any problems please email webmaster@altonaswimmingclub.org.

Could all members ensure that their email address is added to their account. The club is intending to utilise the email database for announcements. Big Breakfast - 27th November 2005

Yes it's that time again. The Big Breakfast is back on, so come along and enjoy some fresh pancakes and icecream after Sunday Morning Training. If you need more information or would like to help out by providing food/milk/pan cake mix please see Aaron or Nicholas Gillett. Over the coming weeks we will assigning people things to bring (i.e. bread, cereal, fruit) etc.

Sunday Morning Training

A reminder to club members that Sunday Morning Training is available from 8:00am to 9:30am every Sunday morning at the Altona Leisure Centre. The session is run by Andrea Sutton on behalf of the club. Sunday Morning Training is a great opportunity to fine tune your technique and get the most out of every stroke. Spring Interclub - Week 5

The final week of Spring Interclub is upon us and our senior team (B Grade) is in a good position to take out the "Runners-Up" spot. Swimming starts at 7:00pm sharp, all are welcome to come along and support the team. Week 4 Results can be found at here.

SWIMathon Results

Congratulations to all those who participated in the SWIMathon. A total of 40.5 kilometres or 1620 laps was swam. We have raised a minimum of $726.125 for the club. Well done to everyone involved. Also, I big thank you to all of the people who helped organise the event, especially Nigel Barnard for supplying food and showbags and the lap-counters that tirelessly recorded everyone's distances. There will be another SWIMathon next year in April for local companies and businesses, called the Corporate Challenge. If you want to help out in organising it, speak to a committee member.

GV Echuca Swim Meet

Last weekend a significant number of swimmers took part in the Echuca Swim Meet (GV Open). Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the meet and there were some excellent results achieved. There were a large number of top 10 results: Joshua Barnard, Sean Connolly, Stephanie Gilbert, Aaron Gillett, Bridget O'Halloran, Zachary O'Halloran, Adam Ostrowski, John Pene, Ofa Pene, Hayley Rider (3rd 50m Breaststoke 10-11), Jake Scott, Alex Sekulovska (1st 50m Breaststroke 10-11), Hayley Walls, Rhyen & Sam Woods.

Movie Night Success

Last Wednesday's movie night was a huge success. We had 41 people attend and raised $143 for the swimming club. Don't forget, you can also raise much more needed funds for the club by participating in the SwimATHON. The club captains and vice captains will be going around next club night to check up on how you are coming along with sponsors.

Social Event - Movie Night - Madagascar

We will be having our annual movie night. This time we will be seeing Madagascar. Sunday Morning Training

The club has decided to re-start "Sunday Morning Training". The sessions have particular emphasis on stroke correction, starts and turns. It starts at 8:00am and runs through until 9:30am. All are welcome (that includes members and non-members and parents!!). The cost of the sessions is $5 per person and is run by Andrea Sutton who has had a great deal of experience as a coach (and is also an accomplished swimmer in her own right). So hope to see you all there!!

Social Event - Ten Pin Bowling Night

Yes, another social event has been organised, this time it is Ten Pin Bowling. Where? It is being held at 216->230 Blackshaws Rd Altona North. When? 7:00pm sharp 15th of April. Price? $14 per person and you can bring along your friends. See you there!

Presentation Night

Presentation night this year will again be held at the Altona RSL on Friday 29th April 2005. Cost is $8.00 a head or $25 per family. Cost includes light supper & DJ.

Annual General Meeting

SPRING INTERCLUB

Its that time of the year again!! Spring interclub starts on the 8th of October and runs for five concecutive weeks. We need as many swimmers as we can get as we are really pushed for numbers!! Interclub is a great opportunity to compete and better your times. Warm-up is from 6:15pm, and racing starts at 7:15pm. Entry costs $5 (subject to change) If you are interested in swimming, please see the captains BEFORE the 15th of September!!

SHOPPING TOUR

The club is running the annual shopping tour again this year. It is scheduled for the 27th of November 2004. The actual time is still yet to be organised. Keep checking the website for updates.

INTERCLUB

As you all know, interclub begins this friday. Entry Fee $5 per person (this includes spectators and swimmers over 6 years). The doors open at 6:15. Also, due the commonwealth games renovations there will be limited parking so it might be a good idea to leave a little bit earlier. See you on friday!

UPCOMING SOCIAL EVENT

The Altona Swimming Club Social Committee has organised a movie night for the upcomming school holidays. The movie night will be on Wednesday night, July 7th at Village Cinemas Sunshine Megaplex (Harvester Road, Sunshine). There will be a choice between two movies: Shrek 2 and Spiderman 2. We need as many people to come as possible as we intend to book out an individual cinema. The cost for each ticket is yet to be decided, depending on numbers, but should be less than the general admission price. If you would like to attend this event, please speak to a committee member or club captain to obtain a form.

The Annual General Meeting of the club will be held on Monday 3rd May 2004 in the Club Rooms at 7:30pm
This will be followed by a meeting of the elected Committee

WINTER INTERCLUB

Swimmers interested in completing in the Winter Interclub meet please compelete the form on the desk when you enter on Club night. Winter interclub is run over 5 weeks in both junior & senior teams. Swimmers compete in relays, which earn points for their respective team, going towards the permiership at end of week 5.

The club Xmas party will be at the Club rooms on Wednesday 10th December.
Starting at 7:00pm with a BBQ, parents are asked to please bring a salad or sweet.

Interclub Results!!

Congratulations to all swimmers participating in Interclub. Last Friday, three of our teams managed a top two position at the end of the five-week competition. Junior K Grade were Premiers, Senior H Grade obtained Runners-Up and Senior D also scored Runners-Up. Thankyou to all who participated, you all should be very proud of yourselves.
